Op dit moment is onze wachtlijst vol. Daarom is tot nader orde de opgave voor de wachtlijst stopgezet.

In de tweede helft van september 2023 is de beginnerscursus weer opgestart. Vier series cursisten hebben inmiddels hun cursus afgerond. Na de kerstvakantie zullen we begin 2024 weer een nieuwe groep cursisten uitnodigen.

Zodra de inschrijving voor de wachtlijst weer opent, zullen we dit op de welkom pagina vermelden.

Wij geven altijd persoonlijk les (1 instructeur per cursist), daardoor duurt het wat langer voor je aan de beurt bent, maar wij vinden de persoonlijke aandacht belangrijk. Ook is het zo dat we natuurlijk nog steeds rekening moeten houden met corona. De cursist kan besmet raken of de instructeur. Daardoor kan het langer duren voor de cursus is afgerond of voordat je kan starten.

Our waiting list is currently full. Therefore, registration for the waiting list has been stopped until further notice. The beginners course has started in the second half of September 2023. Four series of students have now completed their course. After the Christmas holidays, we will invite a new group of students in early 2024. As soon as registration for the waiting list opens again, we will mention this on the welcome page.

We have a personal aproach and teach personally (1 instructor per student), so it will take a little longer before it is your turn, but we believe personal attention is important. It is also true that we still have to take corona into account. The student can become infected or the instructor. As a result, it may take longer for the course to be completed or before you can start.

Ervaren schutters kunnen wel instromen in de club:

Ben je al een ervaren schutter en ben je door een verhuizing in Groningen (stad of provincie) komen wonen, dan hoef je uiteraard geen cursus te volgen. Ook als je al les hebt gehad bij een andere club, maar nu in Groningen wilt schieten, hoef je niet opnieuw een cursus te volgen . Stuur dan een mail naar de club (cursus@ghv-vector.nl). geef in die mail aan dat je al een ervaren schutter bent, of dat je al een cursus hebt gehad bij een andere vereniging en je graag bij ons wilt schieten. We maken dan een afspraak om langs te komen. Als je een eigen uitrusting hebt, neem je die natuurlijk mee. Die afspraak maken we om even tijd te nemen om kennis te maken en je de regels van onze vereniging uit te leggen.

De introductiecursus.

De introductiecursus kost 20 euro en bestaat uit drie lessen. In die drie lessen worden je de basisbeginselen geleerd van het boogschieten. In les 1 krijg je uitleg over het materiaal, maar vooral over de veiligheidsregels die er bij het boogschieten zijn. Je gaat immers bezig met een met wapen. Jouw veiligheid, maar ook die van de andere schutters staat voorop.

De lessen duren een uur. We geven één op één instructie, niet in groepsverband. Dit is de reden dat het wat langer kan duren voor je aan de beurt bent. Als je op de wachtlijst voor instructie staat, krijg je van de secretaris een mail waarin de datum staat waarop je kan beginnen met de cursus.

De club stelt materiaal beschikbaar (boog, pijlen, armbeschermer en vingertab). Zelf moet je schone sportschoenen meenemen. Trek prettig zittende kleding aan, maar geen al te wijd zittende shirts (dus geen slobbertrui om maar een voorbeeld te noemen). Je hoeft geen speciale sportkleding aan te trekken, je kan in vrijetijdskleding boogschieten. De meeste mensen zullen een t-shirt met korte mouwen dragen.

Als je na de derde les besluit om lid te worden van de vereniging, wordt het cursusgeld in mindering gebracht op de eerste contributienota.

The introductory course.

The introductory course costs 20 euros and consists of three lessons. In those three lessons you will be taught the basic principles of archery. In lesson 1 you will receive an explanation about the material, but especially about the safety rules that apply to archery. After all, you are working with a weapon. Your safety, but also that of the other shooters, comes first. The lessons last one hour. We provide one-on-one instruction, not in groups. This is why it may take a little longer before it is your turn. If you are on the waiting list for instruction, you will receive an email from the secretary stating the date on which you can start the course. The club provides equipment (bow, arrows, arm guard and finger tab). You must bring your own clean sports shoes. Wear comfortable clothing, but don’t wear shirts that are too loose (so don’t wear a baggy sweater, for example). You don’t have to wear special sportswear, you can practice archery in casual clothes. Most people will wear a short sleeve t-shirt. If you decide to become a member of the club after the third lesson, the course fee will be deducted from the first contribution invoice.

Veiligheid.

We beginnen de les altijd met uitleg van het materiaal en uitleg over de veiligheid. Je bent immers met een wapen bezig. De veiligheid van de cursist, de trainer en de andere schutters heeft onze hoogste prioriteit.

Op de schietbaan dien je je te gedragen. Doe je dat niet, dan wordt je gewaarschuwd. Blijf je je ‘misdragen’, dan zal je van de schietbaan worden verwijderd. Luister daarom altijd goed naar de instructeurs die je tijdens de introductiecursus de regels vertellen.

Boogschieten kan je niet leren uit een boek of van filmpjes. Wil je echt veilig leren boogschieten, meldt je dan aan voor lessen. Wij zijn van mening dat je alleen van een instructeur veilig kan leren boogschieten. Veilig voor jezelf, voor je mede schutters, maar ook veilig voor je lichaam. Eenmaal fout aangeleerde handelingen zijn moeilijk af te leren en kunnen blessures veroorzaken.

Safety.

We always start the lesson with an explanation of the material and safety. After all, you are working with a weapon. The safety of the student, the trainer and the other shooters is our top priority. You must behave yourself at the shooting range. If you don’t, you will be warned. If you continue to ‘misbehave’, you will be removed from the shooting range. Therefore, always listen carefully to the instructors who tell you the rules during the introductory course. You cannot learn archery from a book or from videos. If you really want to learn archery safely, sign up for lessons. We believe that you can only learn archery safely from an instructor. Safe for yourself, for your fellow shooters, but also safe for your body. Actions that are learned incorrectly are difficult to unlearn and can cause injuries. If Sunday morning is not an option for you, check the NNHF website for other clubs in the north of the Netherlands.

Wanneer koop ik een eigen boog?

Wij raden nieuwelingen altijd af om direct een boog te kopen. De verleiding is soms groot om via bv Marktplaats of Ebay een boog te kopen. Maar als je niet nog niet weet wat voor type boog je mee wilt schieten (er zijn verschillende types bogen), hoeveel trekkracht je aan kan en of je links of rechtshandig moet schieten, dan koop je al gauw een verkeerde boog. Bij Vector beginnen we altijd met de recurve boog met vizier. Er zijn leden die met een compoundboog schieten, anderen met meer traditionele bogen zoals de longbow, een ruiterboog of een jachtboog. Als je na drie tot zes maanden zelf een boog wilt gaan kopen, kunnen de leden je altijd helpen met je keuze.

When do I buy my own bow?

We always advise newcomers not to immediately buy a bow. The temptation is sometimes great to buy a bow via Marktplaats or Ebay, for example. But if you don’t yet know what type of bow you want to shoot with (there are different types of bows), how much pulling power you can handle and whether you should shoot left or right-handed, you will soon buy the wrong bow. At Vector we always start with the recurve bow with sights. There are members who shoot with a compound bow, others with more traditional bows such as the longbow, a horse-bow or a hunting bow. If you want to buy a bow yourself after three to six months, the members can always help you with your choice.
